8. Can the laser be used at 100% power?
Try to avoid using the laser at 100% power to prolong its life.
Our measurements are performed in controlled laboratory environments, with pristine lenses, and in a regulated environment. Using higher power levels increases the risk of damage to the contact lenses from combustion byproducts. These byproducts can reflect the beam generated by the diode, scatter the light radiation in the lens, cause overheating and potential breakage.
9. Why do all higher powers have larger bed sizes?
Higher power laser machines often have larger beds to accommodate the larger physical dimensions of the higher power laser tubes. These tubes are typically longer, so it is convenient to have a larger cabinet to house them. TECHNICAL SUPPORT
1.How do I connect my laser to the computer?
Make sure you have turned the security key and the laser is turned on (check if the operation indicator is on). Make sure you have installed the USB port drivers recommended by the manufacturer. Sometimes, during the installation of the operating system, generic drivers are selected, which may not support the functionality of some connected devices. It is essential to install the recommended drivers for your computer from the manufacturer's official page.
Have you installed the CH340 driver? Regardless of your operating system, be sure to install this driver, otherwise the laser will not work under normal parameters. For Windows users, installing the LaserGRBL program will allow you to access the latest version of this driver.
If Windows has automatically installed a generic driver for your laser, install the LaserGRBL program, uninstall the driver, and then reinstall it. (Tools => Install CH340 Driver)Make sure you have selected the correct COM port and the baud rate is set to 115200.
If you are using a Mac computer, you may need a Type-C to USB converter to connect the cable.
2. Where are the air pump and dust fan?
Normally, lasers do not come with an air pump and dust fan, as they are sold separately. If you need them for your laser, you can also find them in our product list.
If you notice a decrease in burning power after connecting the laser to your computer, consider the following:
Check the cleanliness of the lens. It is important to check and clean the lens regularly, as burning can release fumes and combustion byproducts that can adhere to the lens. Use the provided cloth with isopropyl alcohol or specific products for cleaning photographic lenses. Avoid using cotton swabs that may scratch the lens due to the hardness of the cotton thread.
Confirm that "Max S Value = 1000" (in LightBurn => Edit => Device Settings) and $30 = 1000 (LaserGRBL => Grbl => Grbl or LightBurn Configurations => Edit => Machine Settings).
3. When I cut wood or plywood, the edges are very rough and I can't get a fine finish, what can I do?
Keep in mind that to get clean (without burning) and precise cuts, you will need to make several passes at a higher speed and power, close to maximum but not 100%, and use air assist. This method allows you to cut incremental layers without burning deeply into the material. Once calculated, the execution time can be the same or even less than what you would get by opting for a very low speed and high power.
4. The laser burns the project, but the cutter fails to pierce the entire material in some places, although it had done so before. What is the cause?
The materials used may have an inhomogeneous composition. Plywood may have knots or a large amount of glue inside, which makes it difficult to burn with the laser beam. The more layers the plywood has, the higher the risk of encountering a knot. Manufacturers also have to use lower quality wood sheets, which are hidden in the inner layers. Hobby plywood, special plywood for the laser; even if it is more expensive, it is of better quality in this respect. Try to engrave the project one last time, without moving the material, to obtain complete cuts.
If you have problems when cutting a large area of the material, check if the material was at the same height as the laser head.
